The Clinton War

For the first time I can remember Hillary Clinton appears to be shedding real tears. Not just the fake ones for the camera, but actual real tears. You'd think she'd be crying about all the awful things she's done over the years – but no. Never in spoiled politician land.

Clinton is crying because Obama is actually giving her a run for her money.
It wasn't supposed to be this way. Last fall the darling Democratic candidate was the messiah of the left finally accepting her destiny and coming to the forefront. Unfortunately for her, another liberal candidate from her home state of Illinois entered the ring. And it's been a rough winter ever since.
The two contestants are now literally running neck and neck. And it gets worse. Obama is picking up endorsements all over the place. Even Ted Kennedy is now backing him. Supposedly Obama is sweeping her in fundraising efforts. Clinton claims to be using 5 million of her own money to finance her campaign – which is interesting because the Clintons are people who didn't even buy their house in New York. And the nasty rumor is floating around that her staffers are working with pay cuts or not being paid at all. I guess she shouldn't have spent all the illegal Chinese money in Michigan and Florida.

Which brings up a good point, Democrats are going to real soon be facing the angry, bitter and vengeful side of Mrs. Clinton that we conservatives have been saying is there all along. Now secretly Dems have known that Hillary has a vicious record for years. They've just been able to pretty much ignore it since they're all on the same team. The Clinton wrath was directed at the enemy across the aisle. But now that there is a fight brewing within, odds are the ex first lady is going to pull out all the stops to defeat her opponent.

The DNC although run by Howard Dean is packed with Clinton operatives. The executive branch is also packed with Clinton operatives (thanks largely to GWB's "new tone".) CNN is packed with Clinton operatives as well. All this amounts to very big trouble for anyone who dares to defy the Clinton line.
She can very easily begin pulling strings and changing rules so as to set herself up. One of the things I'm sure she's working on right now is getting Michigan and Florida delegates counted. She wouldn't have wasted all her time and money in those places unless she thought it would be important later. And the later came. The second thing that she's doing is trying to butter up the "super delegates" – those delegates that aren't really committed to any one candidate yet. Another thing she'll try to do is get the delegates from candidates who have dropped out like John Edwards. And the whole time she's doing this, her staffers will be digging up any embarrassing stories or dirt on Barrack carefully fed to sympathic journalists.
This should be creating some real fear amongst Obama supporters especially amongst the upper ranks. One of the last places you want to be is on the Clinton hate list.
But the other effect will be a splitting of Democrats. It's one thing when you cheat and screw conservatives. It's quite another when libs themselves get the shaft. Unfortunately, Obama supporters are stupid and naïve enough to believe their own rhetoric. I think the majority of them actually think the best of Hillary. But they're in for an icicle of cold water slapping them across the face.
If Hillary steals her way to the nomination, I think it will be civil war in the party. Party big wigs who backed Obama are going to be hopping ship – better to get out now than face an investigation from the next president. There is some serious trouble on the horizon for everyone involved. Prominent Democrats would never openly support John McCain – but in the back alleys and dark rooms the support is very likely to come trickling out.
The funny part is a lot of hardcore conservatives like myself are already pledging support for Obama/Clinton due to our disgust with the Republican candidate.

It is truly shaping up to be an interesting election year.
